These pieces are based on the four engravings of\nHendrick Goltzius <em>The Four Disgracers<\/em>, and as she explains in her\nthoughtful article, they use the 16<sup>th<\/sup> Century engravings to engage\nwith current issues of our day. You can read the article here: <a href=\"https:\/\/deyoung.famsf.org\/de_Young_Open_David_Avery\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/deyoung.famsf.org\/de_Young_Open_David_Avery<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I recently participated in a three person Zoom\npresentation under the auspices of the Boston Printmakers at the Providence Art\nClub in Rhode Island to talk about my work (actually, the Goltzius series).\nSeveral people who viewed it have commented to me that they found some\nedification in the description of how I make my work, and so I thought I would\nalso share the link with you. There is some time spent on housekeeping for the\nmeeting, so I start about 6 minutes or so after the beginning, and you can\nwatch me make all the standard flubs with Zoom before I get started. I hope you\nwill find it entertaining. <a href=\"https:\/\/m.youtube.com\/watch?v=DTqkcMrAuIY\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/m.youtube.com\/watch?v=DTqkcMrAuIY<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In other news, I have participated in 16 competitive\nand invitational exhibits since the beginning of the year, won a purchase award\nat the University of Texas at Tyler, and was selected from the Crocker Kingsley\nexhibit at the Blue Line gallery in Roseville to show at the Crocker Art Museum\nin Sacramento for the second time in a row. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finally, the latest piece, <em>A Kind of Flying\u2014The Invisible Hand<\/em>.
